What's with you?  You say satsang was "concentrated bliss" but did you actually heard or read what was being said?  Rawat himself wrote the letter most premies received in the seventies upon initiation wherein he warned them that the mind was a poison and Knowledge the antidote.  I can't believe you didn't get the essential challenge, spelled out as it was ad nauseum in the various publications and live satsangs we parroted and listened to.  If you wanted to progress in Knowledge, if you wanted to "make an effort towards the Divine" as you put it, you had to surrender and that meant giving up, quelling, sacrificing, basically killing your individual mind.  Now we all know now that that was impossible and Rawat lies about every asking that we try but that sure was the program then. 

As for documentary evidence, take a look at any of the old satsangs on EPO or the Gallery.  Read any of the shit Hilltop keeps posting.  It's all there.
