Paddy, I think there are three kinds of guilt at issue here: 1)  Guilt one had in the midst of being a premie and feeling one wasn't doing enough or wasn't pure enough, etc. 2)  Guilt one had in finally exploring or giving reign to one's doubts and actually considering leaving. 3)  Guilt one might have on actually stepping away. I well understand what you mean about the little guilt you had of the second and third kind.  Me too.  It's the first kind I'm talking about though.  Don't forget, this all came in response to your saying that being a cult member was basically just a lot of fun.  I'm saying, and it seems others agree, that there was lots of guilt of the first kind throughout. Fear too, for that matter.  They went hand-in-hand.
