You could say that he discourages that belief now, but it's not so much that he discourages THAT belief now, it's more that he discourages ANY belief now - in favour of understanding and realisation.

And he wishes to present his message now in a way which avoids using any religious terminology or labels (though it's very difficult to avoid using any labels or descriptions whatsoever). He does not wish to be labelled and put in any category which would misrepresent his message or give people the wrong impression. He wants people to see him for what he is, see Knowledge for what it is, and not through preconceptions which may be distorted or inaccurate.

So I would say he discourages any kind of belief about him in favour of understanding him through one's personal experience (of practicing Knowledge). Everyone has different personal experience, some may have deeper realisations than others, it's a very personal matter, and Maharaji doesn't want anyone telling other people what they should believe about him. Knowledge is not a belief system. He wants people to understand for themselves - to realise through experience (Knowledge) rather than merely believe.

As I have said a few times previously, he does not say that he is NOT "the Lord", he does not say that he is NOT "Satguru", he does not say that he is NOT "Perfect Master". (If you think that he has ever said that he is NOT "the Lord", or NOT "Satguru", or NOT "Perfect Master", could you show me some evidence, tell me where he said it - in what publication, on what tape or CD can it be found?)

At expressions events - where some premies in the audience speak personally to Maharaji - a few premies have occasionally referred to his "divinity" (as you call it) - not referring to him as "God", but as "Lord" or something similar - and he did not say anything to discourage them from saying what they said.

I hope that answers your question.
