Here's some quotes from a recent controversial poster. I understand this poster is addressing her words to survivors of cultic abuse, not the abusers.

I'm trying to say here is that surely a part of the healing process should include an attempt to understand why we did what we did.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that unless we try and work out why we were so susceptible (OK, more susceptibility, less responsibility), we'll never really know ourselves.

All I've ever been trying to say on this subject is that it would be interesting to examine more deeply the reasons why we were so susceptible.

The poster would clearly like to examine the psychology of her past self. For what it's worth, I think that's probably not the way to go. One needs to go forwards from where one finds oneself *now*, regardless of how one got to the present point.

But what do you think?
