You must feel a crushing burden of guilt. I wonder if your background is Catholic? Of all the major Christian religions, the Catholics are really into laying on guilt as thick as it will go.

Now, you are *not* to feel guilty about this but your guilt is as useless to me, as it is to you. May I suggest it is far better to have a clear conscience and to sleep well? If one makes a mistake, then one should correct it, that's all. That's what a conscience is for -- to prompt us to correct our moral errors.

The Christian religion teaches that we are all guilty and unworthy. Its fables claim that we are inherently and originally sinful, just because we are human. That is a nonsense of course. No-one is born guilty, whatever the priests may have told you.

Responsibility is different to guilt. It is quite common for people who have been abused to feel responsible for their abuse in some way, even if they were attacked in the street, or in a pub brawl. I know I did And it's OK to think "What could I have done differently, to avoid what happened?" That's OK, it's only sensible. So I take care on the streets where I live, and try to avoid joining in fights these days. But I have not the slightest doubt in my mind, that anyone who tries to cheat me or steal from me is acting on their own moral account, and not because of my own moral deficencies. The blame and *responsibility* for their misconduct is theirs alone.

You are not guilty for being born. You are not guilty for being suckered by a false god. And there is certainly no need to feel guilty if you put the guilt-slingers right on these points either.

Well, that's my take anyways,
