Pride, Shame and Embarrassment | |||

How many of us are or were proud to be premies? Sure, sometimes I felt proud and honoured to be a devotee of the Living Lord, but mostly as a premie I was embarrassed. I remember in Brighton in the mid 80s a Q & A session with Maharaji, where someone asked him about propagation, and he answered that propagation was something he had taken responsibility for, and that he would like to keep that responsibility. After over ten years of propagation in the streets, workplaces, and among (rapidly becoming ex) friends, I felt so relieved that I needn't worry about telling anyone else, and I think I only told one other person until I left. But this shame and embarrassment continues. Many ex-premies do not want their names on ex-premie.org in case someone finds their name searching on the internet. This is understandable for ex-premies - being ashamed or embarrassed about our gullibility is quite normal. I would say to such people, this is part of your past, and your testimony may help others. But this embarrassment appears to extend to current premies. So many prominent premies make no mention of Rawat on their websites and resumees, even when they have worked for Rawat or his organisations for many years. No premies posting here do so under their real names, although most ex-premies do. Why not? Isn't involvement with Rawat something to be proud of? Is there any rational or emotional reason for not highlighting your involvement with Rawat? John. |
