SSB several times evaded difficult questions about murders and sexual abuse in his speeches. Some of his speeches are remarkably similar to that of Goebbels in distorting and downplaying of a very serious cruel truth and manipulations of the emotions of crowds. In a way, you can be really lucky that SSB was not your guru. In other respects (living in ashrams, no charity, no intellectual depth at all, revisionism), Rawat was worse.
