I think most of the baggage about Jesus that people object to was propagated (hmmm, there we have that word again: propagation) by his followers, before his death, but even more so after it. I don't think we have any record of his claiming to be God, or even the son of God. Most of that came about after his death, indeed some of it, many decades or centuries after. Whoever or whatever Jesus was, it's pretty hard to gauge at this remove. The factual Jesus and the Jesus his followers tried to convince everybody about seem to have been two rather different people. There's no evidence to support the claims that Jesus himself said or thought he was God. Rawat, on the other hand, has clearly stated repeatedly, how great, wonderful, important, vital, etc., etc. he himself is, not to mention his claims of "godhood". And, my dear premies, before you argue that he "never said that", please consult the facts. He most assuredly has.
