"Here's some quotes attributable to Jesus, conveniently collected by some true believers"Quotes, Jim? Collected by, undoubtedly, emotionally overwrought followers? Followers who were, largely, illiterate as was much of the world except for the scholars and the elite. "Quotes", which could not have been actually written down until many years, maybe hundreds of years, after the death of Jesus? No, "quotes" attributed to Jesus by sources such as these, I cannot believe. If someone chooses to, they are free to do so.
Did Jesus think he was God or the son of God? Personally, I doubt it. Did his believers eventually come to think so? Undoubtedly yes. Was he? Who knows? Does it matter? Much harm has been done in the name of religion, yes. But, that was not done by Jesus; it was done by his followers. The more ardent they are, the more dangerous they become. Obviously, the same is true for every major religion out there.
Are you trying to convince me or yourself of the divinity of Jesus, and why? It makes no diffference to me, one way or another. I merely am tired of seeing blame for problems hung where it has no business being.
