the quotes ARE the truth, aren't they?--I doubt it.

"The big difference about using Rawat's quotes to understand him and doing that with Christ (or any other historic spiritual leader) is that there's no issue about what Rawat actually said. That's a non-issue. With some of the past guys, it's a real toss-up if they said or did anything according to the story. Go back long enough and it's pretty well impossible to know anything about them with any certainty. Thankfully we can discuss Rawat without any doubt about this stuff."

Yes, Jim, you are exactly right. So why, then, did you spout a bunch of "quotes" supposedly by Jesus to prove he was God? If Jesus said even 1% of what he is supposed to have said, I would be stunned. You have heard the crap premies say about rawat. Even never having been a premie, I heard premies say things about rawat I couldn't belive a sane person would say. Given the proven fact that followers will say and do anything, I don't think we can take any quotes by Jesus as proof of anything.

But, the reason I replied in the first place was not to discuss rawat. I was disturbed by your willingness to blame so much on Jesus. Whether or not one is a Christian, I don't care. What Jesus said or did, it was most likely nothing encouraging "fear, abuse, torture and murder", or any of the other horrors your posts seem to want to blame entirely on this one man. Why do we as a people want to do this?

I simply am trying to get people, mostly my students I suppose, to think. To not leap to some conclusion because of one thing they heard about somebody. My students say things like "My Dad says we hate the French." "My Mom says Muslims hate women." How do I counteract this kind of narrow mindedness? It's everywhere. I think your post, which seemed to want to lay the blame for 2,000 years worth of tragic events, on one person, Jesus, was just more than I could take.

Sorry, Everyone. I know this has been extrememly off topic and the forum is not the place to take out my frustrations about things like I mentioned above--only about rawat. For doing so, I apologize. And to all who have patiently waited this out and to those who have not deleted this, my thanks.
