Hi Andries,

While Kent's thesis may very well have substance in terms of many old anti-war protestors, in the case of Rennie Davis one can't help but suspect a large dose of opportunism on his part. Hence Iota's description of "snake-oil salesman". Honestly I can't help feel the same way about alot of the big names of that time such Abbie Hoffmann and Jerry Rubin.

I guess there is always a tendency for people to become enamoured by their own success and new-found power. Putting Rawat aside for the moment, that was a common occurrence amongst what us old-time premies call honchos in the Prem Rawat movement.

But there's more! Rennie Davis is personally and single-handedly responsible for much of Prem Rawat's success in the early days in America. Alot of ex-premies probably feel that ethically Rennie needs to acknowledge this chapter in his life. He either needs to admit a continued belief in Rawat, which is probably not the case, or come clean about his part in promoting a phony godman. Otherwise his continuing efforts to promote himself as some kind of spiritual elder, even if it is simple naive idealism, is very suspect and deserving of contempt. He simply can't be trusted.

PS: I am so embarrassed to have used a hobbit metaphor in my post title. I just couldn't think of anything else. I'm going to feel bad about this all day now.
