Jonx,

Surpringly perhaps, I agree with much of what you wrote. You do however ignore one small detail, and that is the role Maharaji played in unculcating those beliefs within us.

Being vegetarian is a good, simple, example, as there should be no argument between us on this. In the 'Life With Knowledge' handbook published in 1975 by Divine United Organisation, there is this quote from Maharaji on eating meat:-

"If you eat meat you will find you get more angry and impatient, and that is harmful to you. I have heard there was a time when saints told people to eat meat, but at that time there was no other food. Today we have got plenty of food so there is no need to kill animals. How many animals are being killed because we eat them? Very many."

So here we have Maharaji clearly saying we should not eat meat, and justifying the advice by saying meat makes us more angry and impatient. Then, some years later, premies slowly discover that he eats meat, and no one questions his earlier advice.

Don't you think Maharaji should clarify the things he said when he was young, and either confirm that they still apply, or apologise for misleading us?

John.
