He went through the closets of the ashram premies and if he decided you had "too much" in the way of clothes, you were NOT surrendered, were in your mind, and were "attached" and he took them and gave them to other premies, or he wore them himself, I guess. I remember Dennis Murphy (then an initiator and previously Rawat's chef), got a couple of my shirts.
The whole idea was NOTHING belonged to you, it all belonged to Prem Rawat, and if you didn't have THAT understanding, by God David Smith was going to teach it to you.
David also had a little black book where he entered notes about the ashram premies -- ESPECIALLY if anybody had a "special" friend of any kind, read books, or was otherwise too worldly.
The guy was mentally ill, and kind of sadistic, but he said he was just doing what Rawat told him to do.
I understand he is still around, serving the perfect inspirational investor of our time.
