He came to speak in our community.  It was somewhat hot in the room even though the air conditioning thermostat was managed by two premies assigned to that task.  There were 3 ushers, one event manager, one Audio/Visual person (Bob) , Security, an Information Table person, a Finance Table person, and a safety officer.

Anyway, old David Smith, who normally likes to beat on the drums of satsang all through the night, was speaking and like I said it was very warm and he was perspiring.  After he finished he sat down and took his chair that was directly in front of me.  Yes, I was that close to the ultimate Premie himself.  I noticed that he was totally soaked with perspiration and I felt sorry for him.  So, from my pocket I took out an unused and clean paper napkin with the name and logo of the business that I worked at, which at the time was very famous, but is now, alas, a nobody company.  I touched his shoulder and offered him the napkin that was brown and unbleached with 22% recycled fibers.  He took it cautiously with great reserve.  He looked at it carefully as if it might have been a bomb.  Perhaps he was used to notes with pleas to Maharaji written on them.  He looked back at me quizically.  I motioned to him to use it to wipe his face and neck because he was dripping wet.  And he did.  It was my tiny act of caring and kindness.  And from what I've been told it was the only one I ever made in my whole 27 years of having Knowledge because for the rest of the time I only thought about myself and my precious little neurotic inner-experience.

I became an ex-premie about two weeks later.
