As a nobody out in Australia in a small community and a family premie I don't recall people saying ashram premies were nuts. They probably thought some ashram premies were nuts because some undoubtedly were but on the whole it was the fringe hangers-on who were the nuttiest. And I remember Padarthanand (who I never saw outside of a Satsang situation) as being a very nice, sweet, humble sort of guy and there is no way on earth I would ever have become involved in DLM if he hadn't been there. He was a guy who was apparently living the whole Indian swami, renunciate deal and while that could be taken with a grain of Western salt, he certainly appeared the real deal, mistaken as he might well have been. No sharp suits or fast cars or motor boats for him. If he had been the guru I'd probably still be a devotee.
