At the time the Express was threatening to publish a story about Jagdeo. I was a bit-lapsed premie. My main focus at the time was finding a way of providing for my young family.

And so I got my first job which wasn't temporary labour, doing IT for Jonathan Cainer. I had a desk in his office across the room from him.

So I heard first hand all the shenanigans of squashing the story. Jon had just started really coining it in with his astrology moving from a council house to a manor house and cranking up his outgoings. So it was a big bold costly risky enterprise abandoning his very well paid job at the Daily Mail to work for the Express. Jon attracted a lot of readers to the Daily Mail, and they offered him  million a year to stay with them. He turned them down.

I was very much concentrating on the new job which I was not well equipped to do. But the drama across the office did cause me to look up the ex forum to see what all the fuss was about.

It only took a couple of posts from Jim for the penny to drop that I was in a cult, and this news was so surprising, I didn't think much about the Jagdeo story. Too obsessed with the personal cult implications I guess.

Anyway Jon's straitened times lasted a year or so and he went back to the Mail. For a very small salary, but all the income from the dial-in astrology phone lines. He was soon on to an income of £8m/year. Quite a chunk of which he donated to the cult.
