Great quote there, John, and thanks as usual for transcribing this.  I was so taken with the quote you chose that I posted it on ELK's "Wit and Wisdom" page.  Hopefully, no one will remove it.

So I've got a theory as to why Rawat is using this kind of New Age est-like mindfucking to squash people.  As a cult leader he needs to oppress people.  When he was overtly the Lord of the Universe, he was able to do that by invoking the spiritual dark fantasy of our minds being virtually satanic presences within us which we needed to dutifully surrender moment by moment.  But only the Lord himself could be so radically intrusive.  When Rawat gave up that card he had no excuse to try to strangle our freedom as harshly as he used to.  We were no longer trying to "realize" Knowledge, we were no longer trying to get to the imaginary place where he, his family and all the mahatmas were.  The intensity was gone.

So along comes this new kind of mindfuck that's got nothing at all to do with spirituality. This one's all about repressing individuality in the name of some grotesque distortion of the concept of being a good team player.  It's like a nightmare distortion, really.  Nothing wrong with being able to work with people.  Everything wrong with suffering the complete shakedown of one's individuality.

Comments like these make me laugh, but then quickly shudder as I realize good, decent people that I knew and once stood shoulder-to-shoulder with have been mercilessly exposed to such toxic drivel. And it's not as if they're just coming off the street.  These are people who started thinking Rawat was divine and still believe just that in large part:

Without even thinking about it, so much of the individuality is dropped. This guy wants to sing Camptown Races. But others are singing something else so he either sings the other song or he stays quiet. He says OK. When his song comes along, he starts singing.

One time I was dragged on to a cruise. The worst week of my life. I was miserable. People start to think alike. So much individuality gets dropped. If we're working for a team effort, do these teams have to interact? Do they have to know each other and interact?

You still are thinking as individuals, you're not thinking for the team. What benefits the team, go with it. You're so into being right. Should you compete against each other? You don't have to come up with being super smart, do you? Get out of your individualistic hat and see what benefits the team.

I would like to know how you rate yourself as far as following the rules. One being you are having trouble following them. Nine being you are following them. I'll give you a minute to think about this. One being it's not clicking in, you're not following the rules. Nine being you are following the rules, 100%. This is a very interesting thing. It shows you where people are at. As an individual. Don't say it too fast.

Where does the breakdown happen? When people put their foot down and become individuals and say no this is what I want.
