Not one person I knew who got guru-ed was a "hippie." Everyone was either working, in the military, (two guys) or in college like I was. I quit college to join the ashram and it really screwed up my life and now you seem to be saying basically "what the hell, they were all just a bunch of "hippies" so it doesn't matter that they were sucked into a cult, they were just hippies. What's the next logical step? It was OK, even "good" for them?

That post was the Introduction and it is supposed to be neat and reasonably uncritical.

Yeah, really "neat." What the hell is that supposed to mean in this context? Is this some more pseudo-intellectual inadequately educated Paddy compensation? I'm not impressed.

And how the hell can one be "reasonably uncritical" when writing about a destructive personality cult that destroyed lives back then and continues to do so today? Ever hear of John MacGregor?
