We lived in different communites, that's for sure but that is how it was in the communities in which I lived. I made no comment, explicit or implied, about that 95%. After all, I was one of them.Downton wrote the book around 1978 I think and he certainly hadn't heard of John MacGregor. Downton was trying to give an unbiased though certainly not uncritical view of premies in the 1970's and was reporting what they were telling him and placing those stories in the context of religious conversion. Had he questioned me, at the time, I would have given a very positive and upbeat report of my experiences up to that point. I assume you would have too. As I recall we all seemed to be pretty nice people who were having very strong positive experences.

That's what I meant by 'neat'. The book places the stories being told to Downton by the premies into the general DLM context but it isn't a DLM apologia.
