Jonathan, "swat team" is perhaps gentler than "goons" but still incorrect.  Granted, some few individuals doing this service, or any other service by the way, are not what we could describe as "nice people".  (You can find these bad apples in every group, job, organization.)  But most people helping out at events are pretty cool You say that you felt sorry for her, and my friend told me that she was having a blast so he and I felt happy for her.  Such a sharp contrast of recollections and feelings.
