I remember Matthias well - he was always considered a bit extreme as an initiator.

He started the idea of meditating without a beragon, long before Maharaji pushed that idea.

I remember a Knowledge review with him, where he freaked everyone out by demanding no beragons. He made the 15 minutes we did the music technique (2nd technique, for which you need to keep you arms up in the air) into a painful endurance feat.

Actually I quite enjoyed it, in a perverse masochistic way; I felt as high as a kite when eventually we were allowed to put our arms down. An extreme form of beating your head against a brick wall - it is soooooo good when you stop!
