Like Mike Finch has mentioned, many of us may have suffered from the Stockholm Syndrome in the cult.  I think I did.  The fear of what might happen to you if you left, coupled with the fear of what Maharaji might do to you at some point because you were completely vulnerable to him (which many of us dealt with by throwing ourselves at his feet), made it very difficult to leave.  And I just have to imagine that Marolyn got that many times more intensely than I ever did.

Plus Marolyn is also married to the guy and had kids to protect -- both their safety as well as her relationship with them.  Sure, she knew more, but she also had much, much more at stake on every level than I ever did, and I realize how hard it was for me to leave.  Also, she knew Rawat had a reputation about completely cuttting off ( if not trying to destroy) anybody who was "close" who left him -- look what he did to his own mother, he  never spoke to her again -- and apparenlty Rawat threatened to prevent Marolyn from having access to her kids if she split.  Then there is the whole issue of her fragile health.  She was also isolated, surrounded by cult memebers.

So, I guess I just cut her some slack on all that.  And, again, when I think back on hearing her speaking psychotic drivel like what got posted above, I think she was probably really mentally ill at the time.  It just always sounded so bizarre, and even more so now.  To me, it just seemed to be coming from a deep level of fear -- a fear at a level of, like I said, survival, almost like somebody was holding a gun to her head -- that strongly.  People will say all kinds of strange things to save themselves.
