Dear Rjchinook,

I know your intentions are good and you're seeking to stop cults, but I don't see a petition as a solution to stopping cults, therefore, I wouldn't sign your petition.  First, it doesn't petition anyone in particular.  Second, it doesn't state who is petitioning -- "all people?"  You don't represent "all people," or even all ex-cult members.  Third, there is little agreement about what defines a cult within the governments of countries around the world, and even more importantly, between those who study new religious movements, cults, etc.  For instance, Rick Ross and Steve Hassan have had heated disputes and I don't think they ever communicate with each other for that reason.  Fourth, you're making assumptions about what ex-premies want.  You didn't get much response to your initial thread about this and from what I can tell, there isn't any consensus on this issue here.  Fifth, I don't now how much legal basis it has, especially from country to country and the 14th amendment only applies to the people who live in the U.S.  So, it doesn't make any sense for anyone who isn't an American to sign it, based on your wording.
