To the extent Rawat is doing anything on what meditation is, how to do it, and what to experience from it, it's new.  He never, ever did any kind of instruction on meditation, was never any kind of meditation instructor, and according to Mishler and others, really didn't do meditation himself at least during the early years.

And then of course, there was about a decade in which he hardly talked about meditation at all, and only talked about surrender and devotion.

Of course during that period, satsang and service were considered of equal importance, and his teaching basically was that you couldn't have an experience of "knowledge" if you didn't do all three.  Apparently that rule has changed considerably.  Why we were all put through that for years, only to have the requirement dropped as unimportant, is just one of the many revisionist things Rawat never bothers to explain.

Some teacher.
