Hi Joe,
You're absolutely right and what's more, Rawat's not just about offering meditation, because his organizations give a convoluted message about whether or not Knowledge even is a meditation.
But, I noticed this quote recently, and think it's also telling because it's something that is recent, from 2003 that Rawat actually reconfirmed:

The other thing that cult leaders desire is absolute devotion and love to them personally. That can't be over-emphasized. Money and adoration go hand in hand with megalomania and narcissism. First they foster the devotion and through the devotion (or a variation of it) they get their money, which they love very, very much. Rawat is the quintessential cult leader.
