I'm a bit uncomfortable with this.

You never 'have to' ! What's at stake in such an instance, is your position and ambitions as a 'good premie'. You can always decide your service doesn't fit with your personal ethics - and go and do something else, or stop being involved.

Of course it's a difficult decision, but it is feasable .........
