I was sharing with Susan on FB recently that I kissed Mariolyn's feet shortly after they were married. I think it was before Prem had us call her Durga. The circumstance was that I was one of about 20 house mothers and assistant house mothers in the Denver ashrams. We were all invited to the residence to have tea with her. We were seated on the floor and she came out and spoke for a few minutes. I remember she said something about how she was "our new mother," and that we were also serving as mothers as well to Prem's children. She then let some of us kiss her feet, although she seemed a little uncomfortable. Then Prem came out for a moment and cracked a joke that I forget and left. She followed shortly after. We then had tea and cookies and left shortly after. The entire event lasted at most an hour and left me pretty unsatisfied. |
