The whole killing thing isn't really funny because I remember stories about what a great devotee Arjuna was. He didn't want to fight the war because he would have had to kill some of his relatives, but Krishna told him that they were "already dead" so he should do it for the Master (or some such crap).

This story was told in the ashram days to inspire us to do anything for Goomraji. I remember thinking that he would never ask us to do anything bad, but if he did, then it was probably ok because after all, he was God, and it was probably just a test anyway. This kind of thinking leads to mass murders and suicides. We are just lucky Rottgut never asked us to do anything that evil -- I have no idea whether my common sense would have protected me or not!
