Hi Tempora,

I didn't get that your post was a parody -- my mistake.

Yes, we do have a special inner voice, which is of a slightly different quality from the other voices which perpetually assail us. It's the quiet voice of conscience, which the oldies used to talk about when I was brought up. It's strange, but we never seem to hear much about that these days..

I get a little finicky when anyone around here makes a post about their own life experience and then uses the royal "we."  For, instance, your statement above does not reflect what I personally think or believe.  I think it's easier to understand each other when belief-systems are spoken about using "I" statements.  For instance, I don't think having a conscience has anything to do with "God."

I was bit over-reactive when you wrote about inner voices.  I shouldn't attribute every statement people make about inner voices to mental illness.  It's a habit with me I guess, because I used to have a lot of voices inside my head that were due to a mental disorder.  There is a huge distinction between normal, everyday, racing thoughts, and "voices" inside a person's head.  I don't characterize my thoughts as voices.  I guess that's because I know the difference between the two in a way that most people wouldn't relate to.  Believe me, you would never want to have actual voices in your head!

I also didn't get the point of your post, again, because I missed the humor, and having missed the humor, I also reacted to your words about killing someone.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Cynthia
