Now it may just be a coincidence but a few days ago a premie friend of mine was emailed a copy of 'The Apology' which apparently is now going round cyberEV in Australia.

I can't remember how many emails I sent John after his posting and how many were angry but I think around 8 all up and 5 or 6 could be construed as having highly critical sections and as Jim says I thought John's secret email address and alias were pretty well a secret.

As far as I know Jim Heller and I are the only people who contribute here that have a reasonably complete knowledge of this whole affair. I will reiterate here, without going into the details, that nearly all of John's legal troubles were caused by his own poor judgement. On the Public Record he was convicted only of contempt of court and some premies are claiming he was also convicted in a private prosecution by George Laver of perjury but I am unsure if that is true.

John has been under medical treatment for clinical depression though I still cannot understand how that could cause his extremely strange thinking re apologising to the people he believes are destroying him. He seems quite lucid on other topics. He assures me that this is not an attempt at getting a settlement from EV and has said that they have rejected all his proposed settlements.

I would like to reiterate that Australian premies are no nuttier or more vindictive than those elsewhere though there is a small group of nasty ones centered on Byron Bay and as in any reasonably large group of people there will be some nuttier ones.

John lost all his legal arguments purely on legal grounds, there is no need to consider that there was any conspiracy or crookedness in the system. That is obvious to anyone who goes to the bother of reading the court transcripts. John's convictions and failed cases had nothing to do with free speech or the lack of protection of individual rights in the Qld Legal system and I think Jim could verify this.

Bill has hinted in his post that marijuana abuse might be part of John's problems. John has assured me in the past that he does not abuse marijuana and in fact the catboxxers who accused him were in fact the dopers. Certainly his thinking became more and more paranoid as events rolled on. To me, his paranoia did not seem to be based upon the actual events, extremely unpleasant though they were.
