You are right. I am basing on my experience on the Internet, and clearly there the premies from Australia have been the most derranged. Like I said, I know it's a relatively small number, it's just that I haven't seen any of it from almost anywhere else. I've seen deluded premies, but not that kind of vicious hatred, name calling, and this kind of dumb-macho hubris. I have this theory about Australia that Australians I know tend to agree with, and that's that because of Australia's relative isolation, they have a kind of inferiority complex, and they are really hard on their own -- people who get "too big for their britches." So, I think it was the fact that John was Australian that the Australian premies had such a huge personal animosity for him.
Another Australian premie told me that in the history of the cult, Australia probably lies somewhere between North America and India when it comes to the culture of the cult there over the years, and also because of its relative isolation, more people know everybody else, and that is a problem, and then also things like Mahatmas and even Rawat's presence which a lot of Americans took for granted, were big deals there The other thing that is differnent is Amaroo. I think the Australian premies finally felt that they were going to get to have the Perfect Master in their midst, and that California and Florida no longer had the monopoly on the Lord. So, they are particularly freaked if something goes wrong there, and John pointed out quite a number of problems. Anyhow, I have to admit that part of the reason I'm motivated to say the "Australians are nutty" stuff is because I have also felt particularly and personally attacked by them, and so, I guess, to some extent, I'm poking back. I'm sure that Australians are no more derranged than Americans are. It's just my perception of what has happened on the Internet. What is it about Byron Bay? I've heard it's kind of new-agey, full of aging hippies, kind of like Santa Cruz or Venice, California. Modified by Joe at Thu, Mar 10, 2005, 16:42:11 |
