More from the FAQs http://www.elanvital.org.uk/faq/evuk.htm
Elan Vital has a small office based in Hove, Sussex, administered by John McClean, its Chief Executive. Its Board of Trustees is chaired by solicitor, James Shaw.
McClean alienated much of the UK premie community almost immediately upon his elevation to CE status because of some untoward behaviour in his private life. The UK premies are terrible gossips and this sort of thing has a huge impact.
An important thing to understand about UK EV is that those involved always feel second best to the US set up - this goes back decades, being expressed in relation to Rawat's preference for the US over the UK as his base as 'Maharaji goes where there is the love, the US premies love him more than those in Britain'.
Things got worse in 2004 when Rawat didn't stay one night in the UK but preferred a continental base even when he did UK events - flying back each evening.
How McClean fits in with the Pascotto regime is anyone's guess - though his Northern Irish personality - he's a kind of premie Ian Paisley - seems an unlikely ally of the West Coast crowd. Certainly the old guard who worked with Glen are very pissed off at the vast amount of resources that TPRF is eating up. And EV UK is putting $1millionUS a year into the Elan Vital Foundation to support Rawat's Gulf Stream habit - and only gets him over here a couple of days a year - which is no way to keep the troops happy.
Although changes to the UK charity sector will now have to wait till after a May/June General Election these changes are pretty inevitable and pose a huge headache for EV in that it will have to demonstrate that it provides 'public benefit'.
No wonder their FAQs show signs of desperation.
