Premies did that in New York and I suppose elsewhere too in the early 70s. They even called them jumbles. It is really a very apocalyptic way of surviving, just living off of other people's energy, what they made and/or paid for. Of course this fit perfectly to the premie mentality at the time. Just get by until the new age of Knowledge is manifested (with the LOTU as supreme dictator).

My first car was a really cool green Plymouth Valiant. I was going to give it to the ashram but cracked it up myself just before I moved in. Probably that tempered the enthusiasm of some of the "brothers" from the already crowded house for their newest member.
