Yes, those were the days.....the Dog, SHP and Mel Bourne. Did you think they would really ever leave the cult? The only one I had any hope for was Sandy. I know I thought Mel Bourne was a lost cause. I could never understand how you had the patience to keep talking to them, I totally gave up. I was stunned when the Dog and Mel both threw in the towel, but very happy for them. The most amazing thing I have noticed when someone who posts here a lot as a premie finally drops the denial- is how his or her posts become so much more coherent. When you talk about finding freedom again- you can even see it in the posts. I know Steve Hassan feels cult members assume a "cult identity" and that much of our former personalities are squashed while within the cult, and that when we leave a cult we regain our authentic identity. I think this is true, because watching some of the people who posted here leave it was like a new person emerged. Of course Sandy still likes to quote scripture a lot and stuff, ( love ya Sandy ) but his post got so much stronger more logical and he seemed so much more like a whole person.
