I checked it out myself yesterday with a few phone calls, the 1st to the HM Forces postal service which put me on the right track to eventually speak to a very careful American who I think realised I wasn't a loonie............that's because I'm not, surprise, surprise.

What you do is write the address Gerry gave on the parcel, & put New York underneath. NY must be the destination. Do not on any account put Afghanistan,or any other visible reference to its final destination , ie, on the customs declaration.

The parcel can be no more than 108'' around at any point of measurement, but can be up to 70lbs in weight.

The postal rate may be an issue of contention at your local PO, but a winning smile & an attitude of certainty will likely convince them that they should charge the same as they would for a parcel going to British forces.(ie much reduced)

It should take 3 weeks to arrive in the godforsaken shithole in which Gerry's nephew finds himself, & I hope to send mine off early next week.
