Well I’m not sure I did clear it up cq.  You say:

Only one other comment I'd make here - grieving is certainly part of the process, and the closure/acceptance stage of leaving a cult can be more difficult than having to come to terms with someone's death.  With the cult situation, one has to stop regretting the past.  And that's different ball-game, IMO.

Agreed, leaving a cult can be more difficult than having to come to terms with someone's death or even one’s own death.

But my point is that when one goes through the six stages put forward by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, the resistance, denial, bargaining, anger, despair, and finally the acceptance, one is finally complete about it.  There will be no regret about the past.  That’s the whole point I was making!

The charge will have been taken out of your memories of the cult situation.  You will be at cause about it, not at effect.  The wind will have been taken out of your sails concerning your experiences in the cult.  Once you go through the six stages you finally have closure!  When you go through the six stages it’s as if you neutralize your memories of the cult.  They no longer push your buttons, you have finally put the past into the past.

All your anger, resentment, guilt, bitterness, hatred, whatever concerning the cult are neutralized, defused, deactivated, or watered down so they no longer upset you.  So that when you think about your time in the cult there is no or very little remorse, disappointment, sorrow, distress, or regret.

You finally have that open space, acceptance, serenity or peace.  The regret will have been reduced to the point where you are no longer effected by your memories of the cult.  It's as if the regret had been worn out.  You are okay about it.

Now that doesn't mean that you no longer want to see justice done or right any wrongs.  It just means that you now own your experience of the past.  You can act with a balanced mind.

I'm sorry but I can't explain any more clearly than that.
