Yesterday, one of the Wiki editors put up the Cult Awareness Website (CAN) along with it's internal link to a "critique of the work of Margaret Singer," in the links section of the article.  I was very surprised because of the history of CAN being owned and operated by Scientologists since around 1997-98.

I tried to explain in the discussion pages why CAN is deceptive and potentially dangerous.   CAN/Scientologists also has links that disparage the use of mental health care practitioners and any type of psychotropic medications that do help some people.  I was concerned that anyone who might read that website might just take it upon themselves to stop taking any medications that have been prescribed to them by medical doctors -- not a good thing at all.

I was shouted down by the guy there who is a Moonie who told me under no uncertain terms that the CAN website was staying and it is a very valuable resource.

So, just for fun, I decided to edit parts of both the main article and the Criticism of Rawat article. I also deleted the CAN link.  Today, I got  my hands slapped or not conforming to Wiki standards.  They take themselves very seriously!  I don't.

Between the strange Wikipedia NPOV writing method, their POV that mind-control does not exist, based on so-called scholars whose own credibility is controversial, I've decided to give up.  It's just not worth the energy, time and aggravation.

Btw, if you do a Google search of "Prem Rawat + online encyclopedias" there are many, many other online encyclopedias that have the original Prem Rawat article that started on Wikipedia, but with no edits. Some look identical to the Wiki article when it first started.

It's not worth the mental energy and especially the time trying to work with those Wiki folks. The premies and other members of known cults seem to have all the power there and they won't look at any point of view that differs from theirs.  Closed minded.

Let them call me a cyber-stalker, cyber-terrorist, and an automatic liar because of the label "apostate."  I know what is true and I don't need to prove it to a bunch of people who obviously have their own agenda -- which isn't to write an objective article!

That's my POV!

Cynthia
