'a blast of the divine light is as much a human sensation as a slap over the head with a wet kipper'Not sure about that. A slap over the head with a wet kipper is likely to involve an angry fish-wife or some other character. You've got a sore head, a bit of a whiff about you, the fish-wife to deal with - quite a few indicators as to the reality and quality of the experience.
The blast of divine light is some nebulous, internal thing. I guess that's why they suggest you need a guru to deal with such stuff - if you can believe that the guru can get inside of you. Just so that you are not the only one to see the tree fall in the forest. Maybe it doesn't make sense at all unless you do have the guru there with you, inside - but then I am past believing that there is anyone else in here but me.
Hello? Hello? Oh, it's alright, just an echo...
