Because Jimmy was scary stoned. But a genius...
[Anth, great post. Was reading the top of this thread earlier today (a bit scary in its own right) and decided to turn on some classical. On came Ravel's "Bolero." Had to turn it off. It was the soundtrack to the original slow mo of the lord of the universe, the saviour, the living lord, the all knowing one with the crown, the great king blah blah walkin with his wetsern devotees after his 14th birthday party in India with all their hands folded respectfully and the bliss of ignorance shining blissfully through on their faces. But I cannot listen to that piece any longer. Ever. Again. Never. The film version directed by that great European msater in his own mind Jacques Sandoz , the piece played on for perhaps the entire 20 minutes in length as the slow mo continued and the people bobbed up and down like bobble head dolls. Just can't do listen to it. I hate it because it immediately reminds of those damn feet in the pronated shining brown shoes. Oh, professor, do you ever have those bad somatic flashback responses to some things? Say the smell of fresh burning cotton that had been dipped in clarified butter, for instance? Or perhaps the fleeting sight of a waddling woman throwing a piece of cloth over her head with black glasses? ]
