Thanks for your response, 13. You're correct that the javascript fills in the comment field correctly. I hadn't looked at that (I read this thread at the end of a very long day at work) because I saw that the same argument ('checkout') was being passed to the function regardless of the button checked.

I too have a script programmer's view of the source, which is why I was interested in viewing it. Mahatma Babaluji is correct that any script acting on the returned values would base decisions on the value of the radion buttons rather than using the text in the comment field, and the same radio button value being returned to the script on the first 2 choices is an automatic red flag to me. After a good night's sleep, I'm sure that there must be some human processing required at the server side and that the comment field is scrutinized at that time, even though the sloppy values used by the programmer would otherwise mislead a script.

That's what I get for posting in the first place - humble pie for breakfast
