Do you mean here the problems which a nun has in trying to find God, or those which anyone has?
If you're talking about nuns, I must say I have no data. However, the general search by many people to find God is IMO not so doomed as you say.
I also think that the 30 odd years that most of us here have expended in looking for God wasn't necessarily lost.
I believe that God resides inside us and can be found by internal contemplation/meditation.
The great problem for a lot of people was identifying our inner experiences with Prem, instead of seeing them as a part of our natural being.
