It seems that God plays all sorts of games with us.  I am reading "American Lives," autobiographical samplings from writers throughout American history.  People were VERY religious in earlier centuries.  A typical example is the woman who wrote about her experiences when the Indians came and killed her family and took off with her, trading her back to the whites later for gunpowder or something.  All during her ordeal she was busy figuring out why God was doing this to her and how to get back in His good graces!

I have learned a few things about God in my life:

(1) God is not human.

(2) Don't believe anything anybody tells you about God.  No masters.  No books.

(3) Live authentically to yourself.

(4) Truth and beauty exist.

(5) People are nuts.

And that's about it.
