I always thought that Maharaji was a party animal who liked to party.At this point in the game I very much doubt that Maharaji drinks, if he is still drinking, because he feels anxiety about his deceptive role. I'd have to believe that there is no way that he is uncomfortable with what he is doing after this many years.
I think your insistence of his drinking because of his deception are an exaggeration.
I would imagine that if Maharaji is still drinking heavily it is because he is an alcoholic and is addicted.
