Andries,

This is an important point and certainly a 'principle' worth pursuing - however the teaching of religion in UK schools at least, is anyway abysmal,  with little hope of realistic improvement anytime soon. It is either triumphalist sectarian (primarily Christian) or hopelessly ideologically multiculturalist - often both disasterous approaches appearing in the same school !

A greater,  and in the long run far more important advance would be to introduce 'critical thinking' as an essential skill needed by students of all ages - from kindergarten onwards. Unfortunately while politicians continue to insist that 'relgion' is something that is 'good for you' and rely on it as a means of social control,  the chances of making a radical advances in education are very slim.
