I can understand it is very difficult for those with first-hand knowledge and experience to deal with insulting and unfair generalizations about the lack of reliability of critical former members of cults and NRMs made by post-modernist idiots, including it seems, "scholars" like J. Gordon Melton and Bryan Wilson.

Men such as these behave as if they would rather support muggers, than help make the cities safe for our children. Perhaps they would. Perhaps it is because they lack the courage to steal and rob themselves, that they suck up to crooks for acting out their dreams of predatory depravity. I don't know; but I'd sure like the chance publicly to ask.

Are these dismissals of first-hand evidence made on some public forum? I would be happy to debate the issues. One reason that "nevers" like myself are treated with such hostility by cult apologists is that we cannot be so easily dismissed as "embittered apostates". Another reason may be that, unlike former cult members, we have no great fellow feeling for present cultists, and so we are more difficult emotionally to manipulate.

I think it is a matter of some urgency that the Wikipedia model be fixed so that it can serve the people rather than the predators by the way it handles these issues.
