Good advice for the Maharaja of Malibu | |||

How times have changed. Back in the seventies before Mr Maharaji decided to stop premies from talking about "The Knowledge", I just relished people asking questions about it and you couldn't shut me up once I'd started talking about it. Did Maharaji do the right thing in preventing people from letting rip about The Knowledge? He has created a different type of devotee by doing so. Those of us who enjoyed the independence of embellishing the Knowledge with our own philosophy soon gathered our own followers who we used to take to satsang in the evening. When these "new people" got confused, no worry because we could then expound at length about our philosophy on life and how The Knowledge fitted into it and explain how the people they'd heard in satsang that evening were confused. While we were actually creating our own cult within a cult, it was at least propogation of a sort but now what do we have? We have premies who are afraid to talk about The Knowledge and Maharaji and by doing so, sound like they're in some sort of dream state. By Maharaji erring on the ultra cautious side by only allowing himself to talk about The Knowledge, he has eliminated the risk of people usurping his authority but has instead created a brainless organisation full of yes-men who don't appear to be able to think for themselves. This sticks out a mile to anyone who (like the journalist) tries to scratch the thin veneer off what is presented and who tries to delve a little deeper. This brainless, dream state appears most unattractive to your average person and arouses great suspicion. Perhaps someone might be kind enough to tell Mr Rawat.
