Quirky,

Your analysis is probably correct, though I think there are several potential problems.

First, Rawat has not shown any capacity in the past to be able to attract a large income from middle class Indians - the bulk of people attending Indian events are decidedly low income - and to get a better class of attendee Rawat would have to forgo the big headline events which he uses to claim a large following. He's currently trying to mix the two.

Second, India still has a restrictive Foreign Exchange regime which means that Rawat would face difficulty moving money out of India, which would certainly be a discomfort to him were he to be building up a surplus there while losing cash cows elsewhere.

Third, the more Rawat raises his profile the more he will come under scrutiny - for instance if he is seen by  Hindu Conservatives as treading on ground where he is not welcome then the full force of the media that is sympathetic to the Hindu Right would be unleashed upon Rawat and RVK - the 'respectful reserve' would go and the 'booze, drugs and mistresses' would become common currency.

Fourth - Rawat is incapable of making a sound decision in terms of > not  traveling as much to see actual people in the west as the cost of fuel takes away from funds he could use for his lifestyle and pasttimes < the travel - especially his super fetish (the GSV) is an essential part of his lifestyle and it is his firm belief that it should be paid for by others. He's going to need his US and European base of old time premies for some years to come.

I don't doubt the Keys DVDs are utterly dire - however I don't think their purpose was ever to achieve great heights of propogation. Somewhere along the way, someone is going to have to pay to equip all those Elan Vital DVD libraries - that's going to be tens of thousands of DVDs. With copyright and licensing agreements there'll be lots of dosh slopping around between the various players - Eversound ? Visions ?  EV Inc. ? Watch out for an annual upgrade - every premie encouraged to purchase a set to lend to friends and family - fund raisers to equip the local communities - aspirants given the chance to buy their own set rather than have copies on 'loan'.

Hey, but it's just business, nothing personal.

Nik
