The weird thing is, John has not changed his mind about anything he has said or written, the only change is he now apologizes for having said or written it (even though it is apparently still the truth) because it might have hurt Rawat's feelings (and some premies' feelings).
The only other "change" I can detect is that even though all the negative things happened to him while in the cult, and afterwards when the cult tried to destroy him, John thinks it was all due to his fault, not their's.
That's a personal evaluation and he is entitled to it, but it in no way lets Rawat and his cult off the hook for their own crimes.
