I endorse what you both have written except I do wish John would post here and actually have a discussion about his apology. There were so many unanswered questions arising from it such as:-

1. Does he think Rawat is at all responsible for allowing and encouraging his followers to believe he is God, and for the many negative, even fatal, consequences of this?

2. Does he think IRCC overreacted to the publication of the documents (linked below for those who never read them)?

3. Has he issued a similar apology to the cult his daughter belonged to, and against which he was so active? If not, why not?

I don't expect him to answer these questions, nor the many that have already been asked. I think the reason is that he cannot honestly ask them as it would show his apology to be a sham.
