I know some people got on his case, and he was in some ways kind of a pain, but Alan was a bit different than a lot of the other premies.  He was, in what I observed, a bit more anti-authoritarian, and he had a fairly strong openness to stuff that a lot of other premies didn't have.  I think he came out of the anti-war movement, and I think he applied that same kind of zealotry to DLM.

Anyhow, during the 1976 Renaissane,  Alan did EST Training.  This was considered radical for a premie to do this, even in 1976.

Then, he went back to the ashram and like a lot of us became total devotion/surrender zealots when Rawat was screaming about almost nothing but "SURRENDER" for about the next 5 years.  Alan got into the act big time, and harassed people to move into the ashram, when he became an Initiator around 1979.

But, from what I know, Alan's independent streak came back, and I think when Rawat dumped the ashram premies into the streets and abandoned the initiators to their own devises, Alan kind of told Rawat off and told him to "get fucked," and I think Alan made some kind of a general apology to the premies he laid heavy devotional trips on when he was an Initiator.

Needless to say, Alan has moved on from his former Lord of the Universe.

So, Alan derserves some praise.
